Candace Kinser

Candace Kinser is the Chief Executive Officer of NZICT, the national association representing the Information and Communications Technology industry of New Zealand. NZICT's members represent over 20,000 employees in the tech sector for the country. Technology is the second largest export behind dairy for New Zealand, and is set to become the highest GDP earner for the nation by 2020.

Prior to running NZICT, Candace led the successful software start-up Biomatters, which creates the award winning software Geneious Pro. In less than five years, Biomatters grew from a fledgling start-up company launched in the ICEHOUSE to become one of the leading scientific software companies in the world used in over 65 countries, and recognised as the Hi Tech Emerging Company of the Year for New Zealand in 2012.

Candace was named as one of the 'Top 10 female CEOs for New Zealand' in 2010, is an active Director on the Advisory Board for the School of Business at Massey University. She was a Director for NZBIO and the NZ Health IT Cluster for several years and has been appointed to a number of other government, sector and higher education advisory panels.

Dave Moskovitz

Dave is a professional early-stage investor from Wellington New Zealand, and has invested in a number of Kiwi startups including MusicHype, ShowGizmo, Ponoko, 8interactive and others. His Wellington-based company, WebFund, invests in and nurtures companies from concept through to investment and execution. He’s also a member of Angel HQ, Wellington’s angel investment club, and organises the Lean Startup Wellington meetup. He’s also on the InternetNZ Council, serves on several boards, and does a significant amount of work for non-profits.

Dave is one of Startup Weekend’s Global Facilitators, and is or has been on the organising teams of Startup Weekends in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Palmerston North, and Perth WA. Dave is passionate about helping entrepreneurs and their startups move from inspiration to perspiration and global success.

Alexei Dunayev

Alexei Dunayev is a Silicon Valley-based CEO and serial entrepreneur. He has a reputation for excellence in innovation, creating winning businesses within a market niche, and passion for online education and e-mentoring. Alexei combines expertise in management and innovation with a background technology and engineering. He has applied these skills in a broad range of leadership experiences ranging from consulting and finance to non-profits and government. Alexei has received a number of high profile awards, including the Fulbright Scholarship in Entrepreneurship and the Computerworld Excellence award. Rudi has been a pitch coach for presenters at Geeks on a plane, mentor and advisor to Spark participants, a mentor at Lightning Lab in Wellington and the list goes on. Star gaming entrepreneur Mike DelPrete is looking forward to being in the midst of Kiwi entrepreneurs at Auckland Startup Weekend. He Founded Agora Games in 2005 and he's a startup junkie.

Mike fills his precious spare time with as much interaction with entrepreneurs and startup companies as he can. He grew Agora to the point where it now reaches 55 million gamers worldwide with online features to connect web-based gaming communities. The company works closely with game developers and includes such legendary titles in their stable as Mortal Kombat, Call of Duty and Guitar Hero.

Sue de Bievre

Sue is Involved in a plethora of local organisations in the Central North Island with particular interest in the development of the economy. Sue is current Chair of Enterprise Great Lake Taupo and a Trustee on Destination Great Lake Taupo.

Sue has been involved with 12 startups both here in NZ and in the UK, across a range of sectors from hospitality to import/export of specialist chemicals, even the startup of a bungy jumping company in her youth! In her role in Economic Developnment, Sue recently initiated a programme for entrepreneurs and now works extensively with this growing group in the central north island.

Sue brings a range of practical hands on experience to the start up scene from financial modelling through to the attraction of funds to projects and to how to hire and manage your first team members!

John Graves
