Massey is a Startup Weekend national sponsor but we always get particularly excited about the Auckland event, especially when we host it at our Albany campus.
Albany is our innovation campus – and home to the university’s business incubator, the ecentre. It’s always fantastic to connect with the entrepreneurial community in Auckland, and the North Shore has really developed as an innovation hub in recent years.
We hope you take the chance look around the campus and its facilities when you’re here because the ecentre is only one of many Massey initiatives that foster entrepreneurship, innovation, and commercialisation.
For example, we have an Innovator-in-Residence programme and the Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Research Centre, which aims to deliver real social change.
The Albany campus is also home to the Auckland Knowledge Exchange Hub, which develops research partnerships with businesses in the Auckland region. The hub often hosts local businesses for networking opportunities and we’d invite you to come along – interesting things always happen when academics and business people meet.
The sharing of information and ideas, and encouraging innovative thinking, is what Startup Weekend is all about, so it’s a perfect fit for the environment we’re trying to create at Massey.
Please, make use of our facilities and tap into the entrepreneurial expertise we have here. Universities can be a rich and valuable resource for businesses and the ecentre has been specifically set up to help people with a great idea turn it into a business that can attract investors.
So, we look forward to seeing you develop your concepts, business relationships, and hopefully viable businesses over the weekend you’re on our campus – and we hope this is only the start of your relationship with us.
